Playing the Expert Game

Experts publish. That’s how you show the world who and what you are.

You can’t just say it though. Because everyone has the tools to say it. Some people are so misguided they even use A.I. to do the work so THEY don’t have to say anything! (It might work, until it doesn’t. And then it will be embarrassing.)

You build a body of work to serve as clues pointing to who and what you are…what you stand for…how you do what you do, what that looks like, and why it’s unique.

That’s why the media platform is so important. It’s work most people will be too lazy to do. Most people want results NOW without doing much of anything. They aren’t interested in the cycle of investment, time and return. But if you want to stick out, do something few others will do for long. This is one option.

Just because you publish doesn’t mean you have anything to say. So the next step is to make sure you dig down deep enough into your being so that you can bring some of your authentic human grit and life force to the surface to share in what you publish. You want people to FEEL WHO YOU ARE by how you talk about the problems you solve and the solutions you create.

What we’re doing here is building a character. It is the avatar you choose to present to the world in your business. Why do we have to go to all of this trouble?

You don’t. But given the way humans work, you’ll probably be invisible, and possibly broke as a result.

The reason we do all of this is because there’s a big difference between BEING an expert and getting PAID for being an expert.

I like the second one because I like feeding my children and I think this game is fun. If you don’t, there are lots of other games to play. Choose one you enjoy. Don’t bang your head against the wall doing something you hate. Life is too short.

Just look at what the masses are doing right now. They are competing for a declining amount of surface level attention by helping social media platforms generate billions of dollars with out any honorable product to offer. (If social media was solely focused on connecting humanity, that would be different. As we know, it’s focused on transforming your attention into money.) It’s a pretty bad deal if you take a few steps back.

Do something different. Get out of the rat race. Choose another way. Use your own creativity to reinvent how you reach the people you want to help and what you put at their feet when you do.

Create a media platform, learn to sell, package yourself up so that you are appealing. BE the expert. Help people. Get paid.

That’s the recipe.
