Why They Don’t Want What You Have

They have never wanted what you have. They never will.

That’s the good news!

So generating desire for what you have is not the smart way to go.

That’s even more good news.

Humans already have desires, lots of them. And most are completely unfulfilled.

Sell to those desires. Become the vehicle that fulfills those desires.

You can still be completely YOU, you still can do this in alignment with your true purpose, but you have to be a smart YOU that understands people. People already want things. The work is to position what you have as a vehicle to satisfy those desires.

You do not have the money, time or patience to change human nature and what it naturally desires. You also will probably not live that long.

We have known this for a long time. Copywriter Eugene Schwartz explained this many years ago. I think he might mention it somewhere in this video.

But it’s really just common sense. And extremely easy to forget when you get all caught up in growing your business.

No one will ever want what you have, so stop trying to get them to do that.

You create a sale when you put what you have directly in the path that leads them to getting what they already want. When they see it as a vehicle to their ultimate destination, everyone wins.

Understanding this is what makes business work. It is also one of the biggest reasons smart, talented and very capable people struggle.

It’s not about you, your qualifications, how great your product or service is or how “valuable” you are. It’s about THEM and your understanding of them.

This is some of the thinking we do in Do What You Love and Prosper. The “pilot” group is almost half way through the process. While the original terms of that offering are no longer available, I’ve opened enrollment to anyone who wants to build a business in alignment with their gifts. The service I offer isn’t important, where it can take you is the exciting part.
