How to Sell Yourself is designed for people who are tired of the “sales slime” we see everywhere in the world of business.
If you don’t reconcile this issue in your core, you run into SERIOUS problems.
You hate the idea of selling yourself, but if you don’t do something then nothing happens.
The eight week journey I’m putting together is about a different kind of “something” you can do.
If you don’t have a plan for this, your heart generally leads you to doing nothing. I know this because I tried this. You just kind of fade into the background and disappear behind all of the noisy people who have no trouble manipulating others for a buck.
I went to music school. I caught the starving artist bug. “My work will speak for itself!” I said. “If they can’t see how valuable it is, then that’s their problem.”
Ha. That sounds great…until you need to eat. That’s when you realize what you said was their problem is really YOUR problem.
It’s the same with the selling slime. When I sold cars (only lasted 3 months!), I saw the worst of humanity when it comes to selling. All of the things you hear about car lots are true. It’s one dirty place! The slime is real.
The good news is that you don’t have to do that to succeed.
Business is about solving problems for others. And making the connections we need to find the people who want those problems solved is part art, part science.
It’s actually a form of service in disguise. No one ever says, “you’re serving me too much, please go away.”
The challenge is to align what we want with what our prospective customers and clients want. If we can do that, the energy shifts. We move from “threat” to advisor.
During How to Sell Yourself, that’s what we’ll be going through. How to do that, how to walk away from slimy selling, and do something that helps the world and makes you feel great about yourself.
It makes no sense to dim your light because the methods the Matrix offers for “selling” are so barbaric. There are better ways.
