Over the many years I’ve been working with clients, I’ve experienced a lot of “problems.”
Late payments, the feast and famine cycle, poor mindset, a general lack of belief in my own self worth, and the never ending need to be liked by everyone!
If you want to make your problems disappear, one way to do that is to make yourself BIGGER. Not physically, energetically.
You become BIGGER than the problem by 100 or 1000 times. If you can do that, if you can really FEEL it, your problems shrink down to nothing. They become little more than “bugs on the windshield.”
No one ever suggested that when I was learning the ropes of the client business. So I just suffered until I started to figure things out.
While this “get bigger” strategy sounds simple, there’s a serious obstacle many of us have to making it work.
In client work, it’s easy to view yourself as the student at school and the client as the teacher. You do what the teacher says or you get in trouble.
This might make you chuckle and surely your conscious mind will say, “I don’t do this!”
But if I look back through my own experience working with clients, the remnants of this program are EVERYWHERE. And over the years, it’s cost me a ton of money.
Why do you think we’re sent to school for so many years? So you can be trained to respond in predictable ways to authority.
In client work, this conditioning will make you miserable and possibly even broke!
I thought that, to fix all these problems, I had to change the clients. The real answer is that I had to change myself.
I had to remember how valuable I am, that I am the leader, that the very reason the client is giving me money is because he values that asset LESS than what he receives from me.
I didn’t have anyone all those years reminding me about all of this stuff, keeping my mindset strong, helping me get clear on what I really do, making sure I didn’t get lost in the weeds of the work and forget to actually work ON my business, helping me craft a powerful position for myself in the marketplace.
I’m still not sure anything offering that type of ongoing assistance is out there for people who work with clients, so I decided to offer my own.
I made a solution to my own problem. A very expensive problem, a very painful problem. Based on my experience, it could probably transform the lives of a few million business owners who work with clients. We’ll see…
