Selling doesn’t work in the land of the trusted advisor because no one wants to be sold. And by showing up in front of your prospective customers and clients with your sales hat on, you disqualify yourself from being perceived as anything but a salesperson.

This puts you right near the bottom of the priority list they have for their life.

You can’t just rename sales calls to quick chats or friendly conversations…

You can’t just tell them there’s no pressure to buy and then ask them what’s holding them back from buying what you have…

You can’t just offer lip service without a fundamental shift in your behavior…

They won’t believe it because it won’t be true.

The path of the trusted advisor is one that comes at a price. And the price is paid in the form of a conscious commitment to something higher and more valuable than the almighty sale.

Just to be clear, you don’t HAVE TO DO ANY OF THIS.

You can just go on like most of the entrepreneurs out there. You can hustle your way to closing deals and getting clients. More power to you. I hope you do well.

But it’s a crowded road. It’s noisy, and it’s not getting any easier.

There was a time when better “marketing” would be enough to win. But those days are over.

You can’t just learn marketing and expect your business to work. Everyone’s got access to the info. Everyone’s got access to the tools. Everyone can hire the coaches and go to the seminars and buy all the courses.

The only thing left is for you to make a choice to allow the world to see the REAL you and to behave in a way that completely sets you apart from everyone around you.

One of the shifts you can make is to move from selling to serving. It’s a behavior shift (prompted by an energetic shift) that everyone around you can FEEL.

It takes some retraining of your mind, but it’s within reach of anyone who cares.

There’s nothing “wrong” with selling, except that people hate it being done to them. That alone is a big clue that maybe we should be looking for something better.
