You can separate the winners from the losers by the things they do and the things they don’t do.
I use the word “loser” to mean people with huge potential (which is everyone) who never realize it. They just sit there. Maybe they’re scared. Maybe they’re confused. Maybe they’re just lazy. I have no idea. I’ve stopped questioning anyone’s choices. I don’t know everything. Perhaps that’s their path this time around. To experience what it’s like having great potential and not doing anything with it.
I use the word “winners” to refer to people with the spark. The people with the ability to self-propel themselves forward. This doesn’t require talent, it’s just a decision you make. A response you offer to something inside of you that says, “Go!”
About 14 years ago, I stumbled upon a method of client attraction and business building that I found to be extremely helpful for one rather naive, and very angry, business builder who MIGHT happen to be the guy I see in the mirror every morning.
That’s when I started writing emails, every day, to people I could help. That single act completely transformed my entire path in business.
If you want to win, you need to become more valuable to the world than money. Everyone IS already more valuable, but the world doesn’t know it, doesn’t understand it, doesn’t believe it.
You can tell them, but no one listens. And people have been lied to so many times that most won’t believe you if all you do is say it.
You have to SHOW THEM.
This is what the media platform (a newsletter, podcast, video series, print publication) does. It is a tool of leverage to scale the size of the DEMONSTRATION OF YOU that you provide to the world.
It creates trust, it builds credibility, it forces you to get clear on what you’re about, it makes and keeps promises to the people you want to serve.
And it’s also an effective way to have sales happen without having to sell.
I stopped teaching this for the past year or two, but with the A.I. craze that’s happening, the opportunity for businesses able to authentically communicate with their prospects is going to be bigger than ever.
People want real. And A.I. ain’t it!
Creating an effective media platform isn’t as simple as just publishing something. Anyone can do that. Just look at all of the “content” littering the internet. Most of it is bland, boring, meaningless and completely devoid of real impact. It actually REPELS prospects.
The approach we take is far more strategic. We reverse engineer the media platform so it’s completely customized for the audience you want to reach. And what happens when you build a large and growing audience of people who know, like and trust you?
They come to you, carrying their money, to have their problems solved. That’s what happens.
Becoming more valuable than money is the key. And the media platform is an effective way to do it.
