The Journey

As best I can measure, I write about two or three new books per year. They don’t look like books, because they are in newsletter form. Print, email and this Daily Journal.

Why do I do this?

Because I am committed to the journey. Business is a journey. It’s long. It’s slow. It goes up, it goes down, left and right.

Some of the time you feel clear and focused. Some of the time you feel lost and clueless. Sometimes money is flowing like the Nile, other times it isn’t and you wonder “what the hell is going on?”

If you start to tell yourself stories about what the journey means, you will suffer.

If you just commit to the journey though, you have a chance. It’s the journey that matters, so this is a smart thing to do.

It’s the journey that should receive your focus. Because that’s where the lessons are. They are not to be found in the destination. “Getting there” doesn’t have nearly the amount of meaning you thought it would. I know this because I’ve experienced it. And because I have seen what often happens to a human when he sells his company for more money than he could ever use. That’s a crazy thing to watch.

If you’re not liking the journey you’re on, pick a new one. Change it. No one is forcing you to do it TODAY just like you did it YESTERDAY.

You are the King or Queen of your kingdom. What you say GOES!

Just commit to whatever journey you choose to be on and take in the full experience of everything it means.

If you just want to “get there already,” it’s going to be a hard road.

Business is the ever evolving discovery of how best you can be valuable to the world. There is no end, there is only a beginning. So once you start walking, the payoff is really every time you get the opportunity to take another step on the road. If you miss the joy of those moments, you miss everything.
