Fortunately, Being Different Seems to Be a Prerequisite For Doing Something That Matters in This World

I grew up being what I call a “Straight A Sheep.” I got a 4.0 GPA, was first in my class, and followed all the rules. I searched OUT the rules. If there was a rule to follow, I wanted to KNOW!

And then somewhere along the way, things started to fall apart. I read a Robert Kiyosaki Book about growing your own business and my head broke. All of a sudden, I realized I didn’t actually like being told what to do by people who didn’t seem to be very smart. When you’re an employee, this is a bad mindset to have.

It wasn’t long before I quit my job (by fax) and never looked back. I couldn’t look back because I burned all the bridges to the world I left. People often don’t like it when you realize the folks you’ve surrounded yourself with are no longer right for you.

My newly discovered sense of self created quite a mess in my life for many years. Being that I had been raised a prisoner of my own mind, I spent a full 12 years of my life getting trained to be a mind slave. When I stepped out of the prison, it was obvious I had none of the skills required to survive.

I knew I was a Renegade even then. Unfortunately, I had none of what it takes to do anything about it EXCEPT get angry. So I did that for a while. “Why are all of you people going THAT way? That doesn’t make sense at all!” Eventually, bills started coming due and I realized I had to develop some financially valuable skills.

If you look at most people, they don’t have any of these skills. It’s not that they couldn’t have any, it’s just that they never set aside the time to develop whatever core skills they DO have that could be positioned as solutions to problems of the world.

The masses are fed a pre-selected set of choices that all seem to lead to different forms of misery. Life becomes about work, paying the bills, arguing at the ballot box over who will rule them, commenting on the price of gas and bragging about the interest rate they got on a loan for the home they never legally own.

Apparently, I have an allergy to this type of living. I break out in hives from small talk, I feel like a vacuum cleaner is sucking my energy when I get around complainers and I don’t really enjoy giving control of my life to others.

I see the direction the masses go and my FIRST instinct, without even thinking, is to go the other way. The point isn’t just to be different, the point is to be BETTER. This isn’t something I learned, this is something I AM.

When It Comes to Business Building, This “Affliction” Is Extremely Valuable

It used to be that “Renegades” were considered bad. If you look up the word in a dictionary, it doesn’t have anything good to say! These days, being a Renegade seems like the only way to thrive. I don’t know if Renegades are born or made, all I know is that there are far more of them out there than anybody realizes.

When you aren’t subject to group think, when you retain and develop your ability to analyze situations with a critical eye, when you stop being a victim of peer pressure or social convention, you realize that the well-worn path is a dead-end and that stepping OFF that road is the first real step towards opportunity.

When you are able to see what others can’t see, you can create value where most find nothing. This is not a trick you do, it’s a way of life. It’s a philosophy. It’s a type of existence that reconnects you with a navigating force the Matrix tries to beat out of you. That force is your own Will, your own desires, your own dreams.
