Prospects tune you out when it becomes obvious that you are more interested in reaching YOUR goals than you are interested in helping them reach THEIR goals.
It’s easy to forget that selling IS about helping a prospect reach his goals. If you lose sight of that truth, you will become “one of them.”
“One of them” means that your prospect will place the idea of you in the SAME BOX as he places the rest of the slimy people that annoy him to death to buy something every day on every type of media that exists.
If you start a relationship with your buyer this way, you will never win. Because that buyer will never perceive you as anything other than A PEST.
Pests don’t get paid well, they get REMOVED.
If you begin with TRUST, everything is different.
If you build that trust, even through the sale, by making your selling “invisible,” your relationship with the buyer transforms even more.
Guess who benefits from these changes?
EVERYONE.
If you truly care about your buyer, then you care about the net result that is delivered to that buyer from your product or service. You actually care what happens to your buyer after the purchase is complete.
That future is directly impacted by whether or not that buyer trusts you. If the buyer does trust you, the product or service gets used differently. The advice you gave gets considered more deeply. The direction you offered is received with a level of respect that changes the action that comes from it.
You have control over the future condition of your buyer by HOW you structure the sale that gets made.
This is a solemn honor that few people understand. The gurus have them too busy HUSTLING to remember what is actually happening here between human beings.
If you forget that in the coming age of A.I., you will lose. Because you will offer little of substance or real value and you will blend in with all of the other “hustlers” who are using the borg to create their way to the meaningless.
