“What’s going on?”
That’s a question you ask a lot when you’re building a business.
You look out at what’s happening, or at what’s NOT happening, and you do your best to figure it out.
The answer to the question is obvious of course. But we ask it anyway!
“What’s going on?” is WHAT’S HAPPENING. That’s what’s going on.
What we really mean by that question is: why is reality the way it is?
And that’s where we run into problems. When we go on the quest of making up stories to explain WHAT IS.
I’ve done this many times. Sometimes you find out your story is wrong right away. Other times it takes years.
Both situations leave you in the same place, asking the same question.
Seems like it might be the wrong question to ask. Maybe we should ask a question that doesn’t require an omniscient all-knowingness or the willingness to delude ourselves by making stories up to fit facts together.
Here’s another question or two we could ask when we’re feeling that same “what’s going on” lack of understanding:
- Who can I help?
- How can I help them?
In business, these are the questions that lead to money!
They are questions that reorient us to the true nature of business. Business happens when you care enough to do the work required to make someone else’s life better. That vibration brings INSTANT clarity. Choosing to serve always does that. It takes the focus OFF of you and your goals and puts your focus on THEM, which is where it should be when you’re building a business.
Who can I help and how can I help them are questions you can ask over and over. You can refine those answers over days, months and years. They are always questions that lead to progress.
