The Matrix flips genius upside down. It transforms your most powerful gifts into weaknesses:
- People who are wired to start things get penalized for not being interested in finishing them. Creatives get reframed as undisciplined.
- People who are here to transform the world get scolded for pushing the limits of the accepted boundaries. Revolutionaries get labelled as “troublemakers.”
- People whose genius involves constant movement and physical expression get medicated so they can “sit still” for 8 hours a day like the other slaves. Vibrant life force gets repackaged as “hyperactive.”
All of these kids grow up to be adults brainwashed into believing their genius is a problem that needs to be overcome.
When these adults start a business, they go searching for what makes them different. They have no idea that what makes them different, more valuable, a better choice, are all of the things they’ve been told have no value. The things that they believe are actually obstacles to success.
The steps to fix this are not complicated. 50 years ago they were, today they are not.
- Discover how you are wired to succeed.
- Start dreaming about how to position those skills as a solution to someone’s problem.
The hard part of this is the courage part. Without that, without a desire to step beyond your limits, you can’t do the rest of it.
Most people aren’t interested. They accept that “average” is the best they can expect.
And because humans are so powerful, they get exactly what they expect.
The Matrix says you have to suffer for money. I say that’s a lie.
The good news is that you get to choose what you believe.
