As crazy as it might sound, when I’m working with a business owner, I’m not really trying to communicate with them.
I’m on a quest for answers to questions we sometimes don’t even know to ask!
So I’m not trying to get my ideas across to someone, I’m not trying to be understood. Those are things great communicators do, plus many others.
What I’m doing is different, some might call it bizarre. I’m on a rather intuitive / energetic / scientific / metaphysical / but very practical search for how to arrange the pieces of someone’s business puzzle to both energize THEM and serve the world at the same time.
Imagine having 1,000 pieces of a puzzle to put together with no picture on the front of the box telling you how it’s supposed to look.
Getting that picture to be clear is what I do. I didn’t “learn” how to do this, I CAME to do this.
For my work, actually SEEING someone, like on a video conference, actually makes the quest more difficult.
Watching a video takes you out of your body, the amount of information coming at you in visual form makes your mind work harder on things that aren’t important for this. We don’t need to process all of that. We need to go within.
And that’s why the old fashioned phone call works so well for this. It allows people to more easily go within themselves.
It allows me to do the same thing. The answers to all of the questions you have actually already exist, SOMEWHERE. At the moment, they might be invisible to your conscious mind. But that doesn’t mean they’re not right there, just waiting for you to develop the ability to see.
That completely changes the feeling of this journey. You’re not looking for something you don’t have, you’re just trying to observe what you can’t yet see.
Over the years I’ve learned you need to do your work in the way it needs to be done without apologies. Don’t cave to expectations, best practices, norms or the “way it’s usually done.” Those are not made for the excellent. They are intended for the masses.
