Solve a problem for the right people at the right price and you win.
That’s a lot variables to get adjusted in the optimal way to get a business to succeed.
If you have the wrong leads, they won’t want your solution at any price.
If you have the right leads but the wrong solution, you’ll generate attention and watch it pass right by you and do nothing.
If your pricing is wrong, you can get yourself into real trouble. Too high and your prospective buyers’ problems go unsolved. Too low and you starve while enriching other people’s lives beyond measure.
How do you answer all of these questions and get every part of your business optimized for maximum productivity?
The only repeatable solution I’ve discovered is to introduce a constraint.
What type of constraint?
According to me, business is a tool to generate the life you want to live. I’m not interested in any other type of business. So when you’re building a business, the constraint you introduce from the beginning is the picture of the life you want to live.
- Work 90 hours a week? No thanks.
- Grind for 20 years and then retire? Nope.
- Ignore everyone and everything that truly matters so you can build something to sell for millions so then you can be happy and brag to all of your insecure friends about your “exit?” That’s sad.
What do you want? What do you want your life to look like?
THAT’S the first thing you get clear on. The business is reverse engineered to create THAT.
- Do you know what you want?
- Are you clear about it?
- Is it really YOUR want? Or is it something the world told you to want?
In the old days, businesses often succeeded because of access. They had access to information or resources other people didn’t.
That has changed in major ways. Everyone has the tools. Everyone has the tactics.
What everyone does NOT have is clarity about their journey so they can ignore the 99% of things that don’t matter.
Once you get THAT, you’re unstoppable.
