The Day Fear Showed Up

A good friend of mine gave me a fingerprint reading once that said I’m here on this plane to learn to deal with fear.

With a challenge like that to overcome, there’s no better path to take than to start a business!

As far as I can tell, fear has been my constant companion for the past 23 years, from the moment I quit my last job and realized there would be no money to pay the rent unless I produced it.

That was quite a shift for a “Straight A Sheep,” for someone who was brainwashed to believe that compliance led to success.

If my Soul is here to learn to deal with fear, he sure is getting his money worth!

At first, I found the fear paralyzing. It kept me from doing things. Eventually, when I started to learn the basics of business, I found it extremely motivating.

I wasn’t aware enough back then to do anything but run. To keep going. Keep pushing forward. Keep breaking through. Surely THAT will make the fear go away…right?

But that wasn’t the answer. It was still there. Maybe it was even stronger. (Had I known back then that resisting a thing FEEDS the thing, I would have been much happier.)

Next I learned to tolerate it. Nothing I did made it go away. So I just learned to accept it might be a long term companion on my journey towards “success.”

And then I moved to the next level of understanding.

I realized that reclaiming my power builds my capacity to hold fear and still be WHOLE. To still feel like I’m “OK” even in the midst of the swirling energy in my solar plexus…like I’m about to perform in front of an audience.

Building the capacity to hold fear is a very different skill. This allows you to maintain your center and honor the presence of the fear as part of you that is still in the process of being integrated into your being. It is a messenger with a lesson. Whether or not you get the lesson is up to you.

Eventually, you become aware that fear is actually something that you create, something that you use your life force to bring forth. You can be grateful for its presence, for its lessons, and then decide if you want to keep tolerating it in your life.

In those moments of stillness you can understand that fear is a poor use of energy that could be repurposed to make the world a better place.

So you ask yourself…

“What am I so afraid of?” And the answer comes back:

The answer is LIVING. The answer is LIFE. I was trained to be afraid of LIFE.

Why would anyone be afraid to live?

Because life is where you can become the fullest expression of who you are here to be.

The Matrix makes you scared to death of that being. Scared to death of the power you would hold and the control you would have over your destiny. Scared to death of the responsibility that comes with being limitless and magical.

When you realize THAT, you understand the gravity of the choice you have to make.

Do you do everything in your power to live? Or do you follow the program and stay in your tiny little box where you were conditioned to feel “safe?”

Fear is the program designed to make sure you never venture near the real fullness of the life you are here to live.

What do YOU think is the right thing to do with that program?
