Today my wife has a surfing lesson. They usually start around 6:30 am, which means I’m up early doing my normal thing…getting this message prepared for you…getting the weekly issue of Making Clients Pay out the door.
I don’t know how many people start surfing at age 48. But she did. In fact, a year ago tomorrow is the anniversary of the first time she went out into the water on a surfboard.
Today’s lesson is up on the North Shore of Oahu, basically the surf capital of the world.
Is she a pro? No. Is she a total beginner? No. She’s somewhere in the middle. She’s at the point where you are getting good enough to realize how far you have to go.
She’s at the stage where every single day is a mixture of euphoric joy from riding a wave and getting constant reminders of the power and independence of Mother Nature.
A lot of humans quit at points like this. It would make sense to quit when something is so hard.
Some people keep going for a while, powered by the strength of their Will. That’s adminrable, but Willpower exists in finite supplies. So if that’s the only thing you have, it’s really just a matter of time.
The only other reason to keep going is love. When you find something you love, there’s no hardship in making the choice to show up day, after day, after day.
No one in the Matrix Training Program mentions that you should love your life. That you should love what you do. They talk about that option as though it’s a “nice to have” and not a “must have.”
But if you don’t love it, what are you doing? Why would you trade your joy for something of so little value? Money? Can any human honestly say that’s a worthy exchange for a part of their LIFE? Who is forcing you to choose something that isn’t quite right for you?
Unfortunately, the good news is also the bad news. Because the only human forcing you to continue in your life and business as it is today is YOU.
Eek.
Things you love give you energy. Things you love make life worth living. Things you love provide value, joy and contentment no matter what happens.
This is the way. You begin with THAT and work your way backwards.

I love business. That’s why I do it. I love transmitting what is inside of me to the world. That’s why I write these messages.
Imagine getting to the end of your time on this plane realizing you never truly moved in the direction of your heart. Sure, you made all of the “smart” decisions. You chose the “reasonable” path.
You might end up with money and a well planned retirement fund.
But you will have never truly lived what was in your being.
What is smart about that?
