Do you have something people want?
Do you have something that is useful?
Do you have something that solves a problem people know they have, that they want solved, that they are willing to pay for?
If you can’t say YES to all of those things, change THAT before you try anything else.
The reason there is so much noise in the world of business is because tons of people are trying really hard to sell things not worth buying.
It’s not that what people have is worthless, it’s more often that it’s not packaged in a way that connects it to what the market wants.
This is actually good news. Because it is something you can change. But you have to be more interested in serving than you are in being right.
When you can let go of how YOU think it should go, and be open to learning how the Universe wants it to go for the benefit of the buyer, then you can make the necessary adjustments.
That’s not to say you have to give up what YOU want.
Sometimes, you realize that what they want isn’t something you want to give, so you walk away and try something else, or you try offering it to someone else.
Nothing is fixed. All of it can be negotiated. And that’s actually the problem.
There are so many possibilities that choosing is actually the hard part.
This is why KNOWING WHO YOU ARE is so important. It provides a rather nonnegotiable constraint around which you can solve for the other variables in the success equation.
