Sidestepping Business Insanity

The reason that business can drive you insane is because the way we’re taught to do it is insane.

What we’re told is that business is about getting other people to do what we want. “Let me explain all of the reasons you should buy this. Do you want to buy it now? Do you want to buy it now?”

The better you can do that, the more successful you will be.

If you’ve done any work to evolve yourself beyond a trained automaton of the Matrix, you know that making your success contingent upon someone else doing something is a dumb thing to do.

The other name for this is activity is: GIVING YOUR POWER AWAY.

“Ok, smart boy…if I’m not supposed to do that, then how am I supposed to do business? How am I supposed to eat?”

Well, you can certainly do it the way the Matrix teaches it. The price you’ll pay is that you’ll be living with a mild form of insanity for the rest of your life. If that’s ok with you, go for it.

If you want something less insane, then there needs to be a shift.

One thing to change is to shift the “goal” of business from controlling other people to something that is in your control. If you can do that, you retain your power and have sales happen.

You don’t control whether someone else buys or not anyway. Influence? Sure. Control? No. To think you control that outcome is rather insane…maybe even arrogant. I know it’s certainly dumb, because I used to think that!

What DO you control?

  • You control your ability to sift and sort between those who want what you have and those who don’t.
  • You control the terms by which any exchange with you is made.
  • You control the style, form and frequency of any materials you send out into the world to let it know about what you do.
  • You control your response to any and all incoming actions, words, and thoughts from prospective buyers.

You actually control a lot. Your ability to master that control and use it in service of finding the folks who want their problems solved is what the “work” in business is about.

If you make your goal to develop an effective form of sifting and sorting between buyers and non-buyers, you don’t make your happiness or success contingent upon the behavior of other people AND you end each day by making progress.

This method doesn’t keep sales from happening, it keeps you from playing the insane game with the other mind slaves.

Have you ever met one of those alpha-entrepreneurs who is always chasing something? Even after they’ve scaled the mountain and walked away with all of the loot? Still chasing?

What are they chasing? Whatever they haven’t figured out how to give themselves.

Don’t make that mistake. Don’t make your success depend on needing other people to do things not in your control.
