Today I close the door on the Do What You Love and Prosper six month coaching program…for good. After tonight, this material will be available in course form only.
“Starting” a business is hard. And usually, there is quite a bit of ground you need to cover before you even get a clue about whether or not your idea for a new business or a reinvented one is viable.
Despite the claims of the gurus, I have not yet found an alternative to simply DOING THE WORK to find out if you have something that can thrive.
If you’re just in it for the money, this is a frustrating process. Your fixation on the payoff keeps you from enjoying whatever value the experience of building might bring to your life. This approach is how you rob yourself of happiness WHILE you work hard.
This is really the focus of Do What You Love and Prosper. It makes the “audacious” claim that it might actually be possible to build a business doing something you enjoy that could also reward you richly.
Are we allowed to do this? Not according to the Matrix borg! This is not what the Matrix likes to hear. Mainly because happy and satisfied people are far harder to manipulate and control than miserable ones are. Miserable people can be more easily transformed into victims. And once you have victims, you have division. And once you have division, you have CONTROL.
But how can you be happy and satisfied if you have no idea whether or not your business is going to work?
The short answer is because we don’t have complete control over whether or not our business succeeds. If we did, every hard worker out there would be doing great.
Success is a collaboration with the Universe, it’s not a demand you give to the Universe. No one KNOWS what you are here to experience, achieve, discover, create.
So to hook your happiness and satisfaction to whether or not your path includes success and riches beyond your wildest dreams seems like a dumb thing to do. (I am intimately aware of what happens when you try this!)
If I could control the outcome of everyone’s journey, my life would be utterly boring. I am not in control. I have never been in control. I will never be in control.
And neither will you.
And that’s where we START on this journey. With that understanding: THIS MIGHT NOT WORK OUT IN ITS CURRENT FORM. (This is why most people just get jobs. Jobs are found in businesses that have gotten over this “mountain” that every new business must climb.)
You do what you love, not because you’re sure it’s going to work out, but because WHY WOULD YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE ANY OTHER WAY?
For money?
I never found that to be a good enough reason.
Why do they tell you that you can’t have your cake and eat it too?
Why would anyone get cake if they couldn’t eat it?
Believe what you want. Ignore what anyone says.
Move in the direction of your dreams.
It will all be over soon anyway. No mistake is big enough to change that. No success is important enough to change it either.
You get to choose the quality of your journey only while you’re here. So follow your heart. It knows who you came to be and what you came to do.
