If you don’t sell, no one will buy.

Selling is not posting on social media. Selling is not creating an ad on Facebook. Selling is not hanging up a sign. Selling is not “getting the word out.” Selling is not “creating content.”

Selling is an active state where pain meets relief. It is the intersection of understanding and desire. It is a direct and measurable way to become valuable to others and to live and work as a problem solver for good.

When you do it well…

  • …there is no manipulation, only empathy.
  • …there is no pressure, only focus.
  • …there is no coercion, only guidance.

If you think selling is slimy, know that you believe a lie, a lie easily supported by the never ending stream of BAD EXAMPLES we can find in the marketplace. If you persist in your belief, you will suffer in business.

Not only will you suffer materially, but your prospects will suffer who COULD have been helped but WON’T be helped by what’s going on in your head.

Early on, I didn’t like selling. I was raised in a religious cult (the biggest one) and we proudly prayed for the poor and misguided salesmen and all of the other slimy business people who were greedy and wanted to get rich. Poor, poor souls. So lost and blind.

And then, one day, when I decided that being rich would be nice, and that it would be a great way to provide for my family and show them the power humans have to create, that getting rich would mean I might be able to help someone and support causes I care about instead of just telling other people they should do that, the cognitive dissonance made my head explode and I spent the next few years with all of the programs inside my being fighting it out to see which ones would survive.

The short story is THE CULT PROGRAMS LOST.

I also discovered that you could sell by attraction instead of by force. You could sell by pulling and not pushing. You could sell by becoming the thing your prospects want and then demonstrating that to the world. You could sell doing pretty much the exact opposite of what you’ve been told “selling” is supposed to look like.

What you get from that is that you STICK OUT. And you get to deal with prospects who TRUST YOU. You get to talk with people who don’t feel like you are hunting them, who will tell you the truth about their pain and how you could help.

It’s a completely different path through business. All controlled by YOU, shifted by changing the way you approach this simple activity we call “selling.”

If you’re serious about your business, you need to work this out. How do you sell so that you can do it with purity, elegance, power and focus?

There’s no one answer. Choose whichever one you want. Just CHOOSE one and own it. Because CONFUSION is a death wish. Your prospects will feel it and they will run.

Don’t apologize, don’t hide, just stand up and be proud of the problems you solve for others.

If you want my thoughts, reserve your spot for this and see if my approach could work for you. 90 minutes invested could completely transform the way you view selling forever.

If you want to be positioned as a trusted advisor, you’ve got to sell by attraction, not by pushing them into a corner and threatening them with an expiring coupon code.
