Low-Risk Doing

It doesn’t seem that you can figure things out all that well just by thinking. The real answers come in the DOING.

If you ask a list of humans whether or not they will buy X, you’re going to get a very different data set than if you simply set X out into the marketplace and make it available for them to buy.

People who said they would buy will just sit there looking at you wondering why you’re looking at them looking at you.

Are humans liars?

Call it whatever you want. Liar seems a bit harsh to me, although I’m sure I’ve used it in the past. I’m just older now. A little less angry. And I have a much longer view. Even so, it certainly doesn’t help anyone for you to think about the marketplace as being full of liars.

The problem with DOING is that you find out that a lot of the doings don’t produce their intended result.

So it’s easy to get frustrated, annoyed, demoralized, confused. This is actually the problem. It’s not the data you’re getting from the marketplace, it’s your characterization of it as a bad thing rather than a good thing. Information is always helpful on the search for truth.

“Low-risk doing” can shift the experience.

“Low-risk doing” comes from experimenting within a set of constraints.

I experiment all of the time. If you’re even half awake, you notice my Universe is always in flux. Things coming, things going, new structures, different ideas.

What DOESN’T change is the underlying structure.

The media platform is at the core of it. It’s a service based action. I’m not writing these messages to you to get something from you. If I was, I’m doing a terrible job.

Instead, I’m trying to give you something. Something that might be valuable. An insight, an idea, a new way of looking at things, maybe even just a little boost to remind you that, even though this can be an extremely lonely path, the alternative that most of the Muggles are experiencing is FAR worse.

Build a media platform. You could have started 8 years ago with this, but today is good too. Start adding value to the lives of people in ways that are leveraged. I write this email ONCE and it goes all over the world. What a blessing this is!

From there, engage in “low-risk doing.” That’s action that is low-risk enough that you can simply use every response you get as a data point rather than a life or death situation for your business.

If something I try doesn’t work, I start again tomorrow. Or the next day, or the day after that. I get a LOT of chances. I write to you all the time. It’s Saturday and here’s the new message.

No one knows where they are going. That’s why process is your salvation. It can keep you from going crazy while you figure out the correct route for your business.
