If you have no process, you have no constraints. If you have no constraints, you have no structure. If you have no structure, you have no context. If you have no context, it’s virtually impossible to figure out whether or not you’re going somewhere that matters.
You can fix this by creating process. Process developed to be of value to the people you want to attract.
One place to start is with what I call the media platform. It’s the publication you create that does the heavy lifting for you to attract clients and customers to what you have.
It’s the thing that sticks around. You can see it out there in the world. It serves as a growing body of work that demonstrates value in advance of anyone ever giving you a dollar.
It creates a world within which you make and keep promises. Over time, this generates trust, credibility, respect and polarity. The right people stay, the wrong people leave.
Ask yourself how many people in your life show up as promised, without fail?
My hunch is the list is small.
Imagine if YOU were one of those few on the list your prospective clients have of who shows up for them.
You can differentiate yourself in the marketplace with ideas. You can also do it with behavior.
If you put those two together, you become incomparable.
I created the Platform Lab years ago to help people through this process of creating a media platform. It’s far more valuable TODAY than it was when I created it. But I don’t push it on anyone because winners don’t need to be pushed…and I’m only here for the winners.
You can either choose to play the rat game you seeing going on right now, where ever more amounts of effort are required to scream above the noise for attention…or you can choose the smart way, the way that has been and that will always be effective, which is about consistently demonstrating the value you provide to the world by committing to do it in advance and regardless of whether or not any money ever changes hands.
That’s how you stop begging for attention and start commanding it.
