The thing the Matrix trains you not to do is the very thing you need to do.
That thing is to STAND FOR SOMETHING.
Without that, you’re not interesting. You’re just like everyone else. You will be invisible.
The Matrix doesn’t always reward the folks who stand for something. Sometimes it makes fun of them. Sometimes it casts them out of the herd. Sometimes it even puts them in a cage. You can find tons of examples.
If you give into this fear, you are sentencing yourself to invisibility.
We say we WANT to stand out, but we’re scared to death of it.
When you mix that together, you get ZERO SUBSTANCE. And then you get ignored. Because you are safe. And meaningless.
So you can’t have both. You have to choose one.
It’s not hard to know what you stand for. You’ve known it since you were a child. But access to that knowing was conditioned out of you. The understanding of how to communicate that to the world was never taught. You were shown examples of what can happen to people who stand for the “wrong” things.
If you give in to your learned desire for safety and security, YOU LOSE.
Nothing about life is safe. Nothing about business is safe. We’re all risking everything, pretty much all of the time.
If you can stop forgetting that, your view on decisions changes. Your risk tolerance changes. You make decisions firmly planted in principles of reality. One of those principles is that, YOUR JOURNEY COULD END AT ANY MOMENT.
If you can acknowledge that, then you can feel what it feels like to have nothing to lose. It’s already all lost. It’s the best news in the world.
Because once you believe that, you can reconnect with your heart and start thinking, saying and doing the things that truly matter to you. In business, we get to play that game in a way where we can get money for it.
It’s quite a ride. But it’s best when you give up the fear.
