The Matrix tries to make you feel like the normal and right thing to do is to follow the rules.
The farther away from the Matrix you can pull your awareness, however, the less this makes sense.
In fact, should you dare to back away far enough from the conditioning that has surrounded us from our first breath, you can’t help but to ask the question:
“Why would you spend your life following someone else’s rules?”
The Muggle has a perfect answer to this question. One that stands the test of time:
“Because you have to!”
This is the response of a brainwashed coward.
I know, because I WAS one.
That’s just the first line of defense though. There are other explanations to support behavior like this. Most of them involve the fear of what could happen if you DON’T submit to the Will of another human, a human with no real standing to tell you how to live.
“If I don’t do what they say, I’ll get in trouble!”
It’s not hard to rationalize cowardice, it’s only difficult to transcend it.
The good news is that a brainwashed coward can still find success and happiness, although my guess is that it’s pretty rare. Betraying your own truth because you’re scared exacts a significant price.
For how much success can come from living a life someone else designed for you? Someone you don’t know, who doesn’t know you.
It seems like the smartest path is to get rid of the brainwashing and to stop acting like a coward.
After that, you start making your own rules. You don’t even need to tell anyone about them, you just have to align your behavior with them and know they are right for you.
Because this is a “business” newsletter, we’ll keep things practical so that no one is threatened by too much REAL coming through the internet.
In business, following the rules is a great way to lose.
We have rules about marketing, we have rules about selling, we have rules about how to collect money and how not to. We have rules about every part of this game.
If we follow all those rules, we end up looking and acting like everyone else and then spending our time trying to figure out how to get noticed.
Getting noticed isn’t the problem. It’s a symptom.
The problem is that you haven’t claimed your power to be YOU and to take authority over your own life without concern for the opinions of others.
If you’re not willing to fix that, you’ve got much bigger problems than trying to stand out.
