Finding Buyers

Today we start with an idea that could very well win the award for “Most Obvious Statement in the World.”

Ready?

ONLY BUYERS BUY.

There are only two types of people in the world: people who buy and people who don’t buy.

You might think that your job in business is to convince people to buy. I’d argue that is a fool’s errand. I’ve travelled that road many times and come back with nothing but scrapes, cuts and bruises, mainly to my ego.

The goal isn’t to convince people to buy, the goal is to FIND THE BUYERS.

With the borg actively brainwashing much of society into believing that entertaining themselves 24/7 on social media is “doing something,” finding buyers on there is more of a challenge than ever. Because buyers tend not to be sitting around bathing their face in blue light served up to them by an algorithm that is so “smart” it thinks your viewing of a single video about guinea pigs means you want to watch guinea pig videos for the rest of your life.

“Where are the buyers?”

That’s the question to keep asking.

We ask this not because we are greedy and only want MONEY, but because MONEY is the best clue we have in this Matrix concerning the truth about what someone wants.

Talk is cheap. Money tells the truth.

The neat thing about buyers is that they keep buying. They don’t have a shopping addiction, they are motivated to achieve. And they BUY to solve problems they have. The buying shows they are willing to take action in the direction of their dreams.

Most humans don’t do this. Most humans go nowhere. They sit and talk or dream or complain. But they draw the line at DOING. They simply aren’t interested. All the persuasion tactics in the world aren’t going to change that.

You generally don’t build a business serving people like this, people who don’t buy… because they’re not interested in paying.

That’s the problem with the current entertainment/advertising model we’re watching right now on places like IdiotTube. Once the general quality level of that audience declines to become worthless to advertisers (the folks who are funding the whole operation), THE MONEY WILL LEAVE and the whole house of cards will crash. I have no idea when this will happen.

In the meantime, the good news is that there are lots of buyers! But sometimes it takes real work and creativity to find them.

That’s not the problem though. Business is work. Serving people is work. That shouldn’t be a surprise. The problem is making sure you’re clear that “finding the buyers” is the goal and not getting caught up in the fruitless quest to transform someone who doesn’t buy into someone who does.

Just sift and sort.
