If you haven’t noticed, the world is changing. And one of the things that is changing is that people seem to be reaching a point where they aren’t so interested in doing things they hate just to get money.
Even the guys who are successful are looking around asking themselves, “is this really all there is?” “Is this what I came here for?”
I’ve never found this “do what you have to do to get the money” path attractive. I could never do it. If I don’t find something meaningful to do, I just won’t stick around. Which is why I had to set out on my own path and figure things out (it was painful.)
The thing I had to figure out was how to create a business based on the work that makes me feel alive.
The Matrix says this quest is B.S., that it won’t work, that it’s not practical, that it’s silly to even think this way.
But even the Matrix programming wasn’t enough to get rid of that feeling in my gut that I wasn’t made to work at a bank, or in a church, or on a car lot (I did all of those things and more!) I wasn’t made to take someone else’s orders.
Most of all, the Matrix programming wasn’t strong enough to temper the joy and satisfaction I feel when I’m doing the right work for me, which is to empower others in a way that moves them in their unique direction towards what they want, and to do that in a way that’s practical (in other words, it leads to $$).
I stumbled into the work I’m here to do. It hasn’t been easy. Some days, it still isn’t. But that doesn’t change much. It’s all just part of the experience.
Because when you’re committed to being YOU above everything else, when you’re dedicated to putting your voice into the world, whether it’s a year where that voice is welcomed or a year where that voice is criticized, you just keep talking and you just keep walking.
It is my firm belief that we can do what we love and prosper. It’s what I live, it’s what I teach my children, it’s an idea that runs through everything I create.
You don’t have to believe it. That’s fine. I’m only here for the people who already do. The people who know there is something more out there, something they can do that’s both profitable AND really makes them feel alive.
For this week, through Friday, I’m re-opening the “Do What You Love and Prosper” course I made to walk you through the steps for doing this. Will it make you rich? Will it grant your every wish? Will you become famous?
If that’s what you want, I’d recommend you find a lamp with a genie, that’s a more practical solution for those desires.
This is about creating a business, or refining the one you’ve got, so it works with WHO YOU ARE in a way that creates money and satisfaction and contentment at the same time.
