The Matrix gives its slaves some pretty clear choices in the game of life.
You can be more of an “artist,” do something you love, and be broke…
Or you can go into business, give the market what it wants, and be miserable…
There’s a saying about “starving artists” for a reason. In a society that’s been trained to find little value in the expression of another human, so many artists struggle to find any sustainable way to transform their work into their livelihood.
On the flip side, we’ve got the business guys. The Matrix tells those folks to never quit, to do what it takes, to give it their all, to keep getting up when they get knocked down, to sacrifice everything to achieve their goal.
No wonder those poor people aren’t happy by the time they “win.” They’ve sacrificed most of what’s important to achieve something that feels empty. Which is why they keep going, keep looking, keep searching for fulfillment.
It doesn’t take a genius to see both of these paths suck.
The road to freedom in the Matrix begins with rejecting the choices you are given…and then coming up with something new.
That’s why I bumbled around in the wilderness of business for a good 15 years trying to figure out how to do both…to do what I loved AND actually be successful.
I wanted the cake and I wanted to eat it. (Who would even bother with cake if you weren’t able to eat it? What a dumb idea the Matrix trains us to believe is normal.)
I realized the answer is to be yourself and figure out how to make that act valuable, profitable, rewarding and fulfilling.
Who you are is what the world needs. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be here. Our work is to figure out how to use those constraints and transform them into an advantage that makes a successful business doing something you love possible.
Is it guaranteed? Like your next breath, this road is not guaranteed. Only children need guarantees for life. Real adults take responsibility for themselves and everything they think, say and do.
Do what you love and prosper. That is the journey I’m on. To help people do that. Even if we never work together, my goal is to infect the world with the (healthy) mind virus that makes it impossible for them to forget that THIS IS POSSIBLE. And that if other people are living it, they can too.
Broke or miserable are bad outcomes. You can achieve better. But don’t go to the Matrix for advice about how. It’s not interested in your life, it’s interested in control over your life.
If you want my help with this, today’s the last day to get it in this form. I don’t sell hard because I never want to work with someone I’ve had to sell.
This offering is for the people who don’t want to settle. The ones who refuse to choose between miserable or broke. The ones who choose “none of the above” and then move in the direction that makes them feel alive.
If that’s you, the deadline is midnight eastern time, U.S.
