This past week or so, the 20 page print newsletter went out the door, a six page “farming” newsletter left the building, 7 issues of this Daily Journal got published, client sales copy got written, marketing systems got built and I opened enrollment for a new training in August.
Why do I do all of this?
BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT I DO.
I transmit ideas. I trade ideas for money. It’s very simple. I have an unlimited supply of good ideas (thank you Universe!) I exchange them for something I can use to feed my family and live my life.
THAT’S my business. Not copywriting. Not marketing. Not publishing. Not consulting.
TRADING IDEAS FOR MONEY.
A lot of clarity comes when you understand the business you’re really in. You know what you do. You know what you offer. But what business are you really in?
Getting a good answer to this question allows you to better navigate towards your goals by making clearer decisions more easily.
My work is finding business owners who value ideas more than money.
If I do that, selling becomes irrelevant. Because I’ve got ideas no one else has. Because they come through me in a way that is unique and special.
But I still need to find people who value ideas. Not everyone does. A lot of people don’t value things they can’t see. That’s fine, but those aren’t my people.
But knowing that is the point. That’s really THE work. It’s the one thing that allows the whole system to work: finding people who already understand the value of ideas.
What is the one thing for you? Do you have a one thing?
What business are you really in? Start there. Once you get that answer, ask yourself, “what’s the one thing required for that business to WORK?”
Then focus on THAT.
