One of the most devious tricks of the Matrix is how it gets people to trade things that are real for things that are not. It makes the exchange of something valuable for something with the appearance of value look like a good deal.
It never is.
The most valuable thing you have to share with others is the way you see the world, the unique perspective you bring to understanding problems and their solutions, your one-of-a-kind way of being that no one else can copy.
The Matrix teaches you there is no value in that. It tries to get you to believe that all of that is “less than,” that it’s not what is required to succeed, that you’ll fall behind if you don’t do something else.
The siren song of the Matrix is: YOU ARE NOT ENOUGH. YOU WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH.
If you want to listen to that, go ahead. Head straight to your nearest A.I. model and it’ll guess some words together that make you believe it’s actually thinking. It’s not. It’s decaying your ability to create and serving the illusion of creation hoping you won’t notice the difference.
I’m not interested in convincing anyone to stop using this “tool” to create. If you want to do it, that’s fine. The consequences will come soon enough.
If you want something better, then go look in the mirror. Because that’s where it’s going to come from.
It’s going to come from inside of you. Inside your mind. Inside your heart. From that spark of life that keeps you moving forward.
That’s the source. If you connect to it, focus on it, cultivate it, nurture it, practice it, it becomes a powerful signal that you can send out into the world.
That’s your U.S.P. The fact that you’re YOU and that no one else can offer the world exactly what you offer in the exact way you do it.
Your mind will tell you that’s not enough.
I’m here to argue it’s more than enough.
Tomorrow, I’m presenting a short class called “Write Like a Human.” If you’re interested in showing up in the world, in print, in a way that sets you apart from everyone, you’re invited to join me.
The material will be clear, simple, powerful, useful. It will show you how to unlock your own unique way of expression so that what you write has real impact in the world.
A.I. is quicker. But just like you wouldn’t serve dinner guests a plate of dog food, maybe it’s best not to send slop to the prospective customers and clients you want to serve?
How about we give them something worth eating?
