If A.I. was a copywriter, marketer or strategist on staff, he’d get fired before the end of week one. But you can’t say that and get investors to fork over billions. So despite more people speaking simple common sense about what they see with their own eyes, the hype train moves on!
I don’t enjoy hype because it brings out the worst in humans and tends to ignite my rage towards humanity which is a dumb thing to be mad at and a total waste of energy.
So I just go back to work.
What do we know in all of this? I think we know less than we did. Who knows what will happen. In times like these we just have to fall back on whatever core principles we use to govern our path through business and life.
One of mine is this:
DO NOTHING OUT OF FEAR. (The only exception to this rule involves wild beasts chasing me in the forest. Or now that I live on an island, a tsunami. Other than that, propulsion by fear is a bad move.)
When you take the fear out of selling, marketing, speaking with prospects, submitting proposals, negotiating fees, your entire experience of LIFE changes.
How do you remove the fear?
Get rid of your story that you need it to go a certain way. Replace that with the story that everything coming to you is a gift, even if it shows up in disguise.
Develop the skills to connect with other humans. Work to solve their problems. Engineer all that so you can be richly rewarded for the value you provide.
It’s a simple recipe. But I’m not sure you need to do much else to succeed.
