My son sent me a screenshot of a newish Gmail feature that uses A.I. (Automating Idiocracy) to summarize emails for you so you can allow your brain to atrophy to the point required for the Matrix to take control of your life.
I think it’s great. I am always looking for help sifting and sorting between people I should pay attention to and those I should ignore.
This will do it! Eventually.
“Features” like this will make more humans, dumber, than ever before.
I always wondered how we would achieve full Idiocracy, but now the path is becoming clear.
Humans will happily relinquish the right to think.
If you haven’t noticed how the Matrix works, it is a simple process:
Identify a valuable human power. Concoct a (somewhat) believable story for humans to exchange that power for something faster and more convenient. Take advantage of that consent to erect the prison within which human capacity can be contained and controlled.
Over time, it looks like you get more “done.” What’s really happening is an invisible theft of your ability to create real value.
You will get less valuable the longer things go in that direction.
This is a bad choice.
In addition to having a solution to a problem your prospects want solved, the other “must-have” in business is this:
The ability to communicate what you have to the world.
If you abdicate your responsibility for this skill to a bot, you will lose. Not today, not tomorrow. But eventually, the tools, used as most people use them, will help facilitate a subtle transformation in how you show up. And you will become a prisoner to them.
You’ll get the work done quickly, but no one will notice it. Because there will nothing worth noticing. The powerful vibration that is human connection will no longer be found in how you present yourself to prospective buyers.
There is a better way. Which is to develop a new level of mastery with this skill of written communication instead of outsourcing it to an entity that will never know what it feels like to feel fear, or hope, or dream, or lose a loved one. That palette of deep and profound experience we call being human is the value you have to share with the world. It is the language we all speak that the Matrix pretends does not exist.
If you do not become a master of feeling, you will never become a master of selling.
The A.I. bots offer a compelling trade. In exchange for a little less humanity, you get clean, polished work that’s done more quickly than it takes you to take a single deep breath.
If you think that trade sounds good, go ahead and take it.
If you want to show up in the world in a way that makes it obvious you have something more to offer than any one else in the marketplace, then consider making a different choice.
Writing is talking in print. It is a tool for creating human connection that offers virtually unlimited leverage.
Dulling your tools is not the path to success, sharpening them is.
The humans that use these new “tools” contribute to the spreading disease of technology making humans feel empty, unfulfilled, disconnected, without direction.
What do you think happens when YOU show up with the ability to make them truly feel alive?
